District 2 - THE END!

Temple Day! We had a bright and early day of getting ready! Then we went to email. Real Good. Highlight of the week. Thank you all for your letters! Then we hurried home to switch the laundry before we left for the temple.  It was a beautiful day. Shining sun and warm air. We even ate an apple in the sunshine.  Kaunis (beautiful). The Temple blessed us so much.  When we got home, we shopped real quick, then ate and went to a lesson with our new Iranian friends.  They are such a sweet couple who we set a baptismal date with. June 8th! So excited.  They are so prepared! After their lesson we had another lesson with our recent convert who’s baptismal anniversary is coming soon. So we got him pumped to go to the temple because we had just been there.  It was awesome!!!

Wed – DISTRICT 2…THE END! So sad! We had our last district council as this district.  I probably won’t be seeing some of these people until I go home…weird. But it was good.  Got to talk about random stuff, plus our District leader brought brownies! It was awesome!  Then eventually we left and we stopped by a member’s house and she gave us cookies and some places to contact.  We even found a few people! Ihmeitä! (wonders) Then home for studies and dinner.  Then we wanted to have a lesson, but cancelled. So we went to Vuosaari (a bit further out area) and were gonna follow up with one lady, but this drunk man offered some girls (young like 6) some alcohol and scared them enough and they stood by us till he came close to us then they ran and we went inside but our follow-up wasn’t home.  So we went to another follow up but as we contacted there we saw our investigators from last night! We were in a contact, so we ran a bit to catch up and we ended up going to their apartment and teaching them the Word of Wisdom.  Which they follow mostly, they drink tea.  Which they told us they would stop.  Awesome! It was such a miracle!  Then it was time to go home.  So many miracles today! [ 2 Nephi 27:23 Read it]

Thursday: It’s a bullet point day
-lesson with this man who told us the wrong name to see why we called him then didn’t have the energy to stay and meet.  So we taught a 5 min lesson at the bus station.
-contacted by the beach – gave a 4 min restoration lesson and were really cold as it got cloudy while there (actually stayed 20 min)
-Short interlude then taught B (Nepalese friend) and decided to fast for him to help him stop smoking.  It was a fire lesson.  He is so ready for his baptismal date! (June 8)
- DINNER & FASTING “For HIM!”
- Tracting by the sea! It is so close and so beautiful
+ we saw and met a Norwegian
+ we knocked on Richie Rich’s door – He had to buzz the gate so we could knock
+ we met 2 IHAN (not sure what this is) Scandinavian women who I thought would surely punch us (they didn’t)
+ we heard a band practicing in their garage and then saw them, they are all in their 40’s+
+ thought we were lost then found the church and then BOOKED IT HOME!!!

Friday was quite chill.  We went and taught a returning member.  Very nice woman.  The lesson was weird; she seemed really mad at us, but then sometimes nice.  I don’t know.  I don’t understand most of what she says.  Then we got the fated call. We were walking home and President Aura called and gave us our calls.  Sisar Hansen will TRAIN…again! And I go to LAPPEENRANTA!! It’s so weird. It was hard to focus during the rest of the afternoon for studies and weekly planning (ALSO FASTING!).  Then after we walked to the church for a Relief Society (18 + women’s) activity, but none of our friends showed up and we were starved!  So we couldn’t stay, especially because food wasn’t until later. So we went and at the most delicious hamburger EVER! So GOOD! Then we contacted to the church for English hour. Both our Chinese friends were there, then two young women. It was fun! Then home! Good.Full.Crazy Day!!!

Saturday! The first up…Ward Coordination! My last here. Then we contacted home for lunch and some short studies before back to the church for…drum roll…A BAPTISM! The Elders’ friend!  I lead the music! And it was so good.  He is so excited! His faith and happiness about baptism was remarkable.  Amazing! We mingled and then cleaned up afterwards.  Then contacted out to Kulasaari and back.  Home for dinner.  AP (asst. to the Pres) Weeks called and told us where a bunch of missionaries were going on Tuesday, and I cried, because of change and a slap from reality. #denial… So we went contacting to the church for SPORTS! It was weird, there was a former elder here. It was weirdly long, 1.5 hours, but good.  Lots of fun.  Now home and not much to do but get ready for bed.

Sunday was a Special Day.  Our friend who got baptized yesterday got the Gift of the Holy Ghost today. It was so great. The blessing was even in Finnish and I understood  (it was a missionary who gave it though, so…) And after sung to ‘God Be With You Til We Meet Again’ He was crying and I was almost crying.  It was an event.  And so many pictures and goodbyes.  It was so sad.  I have loved this ward. After church we ate and studied before heading to a lesson with B (our friend with a baptismal date June 8) He is so ready.  He hasn’t quit smoking all the way yet, but he’s working and almost there! He understands so much, his progress is remarkable.  We came home for dinner then had a miracle happen.  We had a lesson that fell through.  Then we contacted/tracted the neighborhood around the church and contacted a couple who walked away. But we followed to tell them the correct name of the church and they were cool.  Then we had a cool conversation with an old man about Jesus then Mokkit and gardens then the Book of Mormon and Jesus again.  Then as we contacted back we went to knock on a door and I said “9B is gonna let us in” and it was a woman we contacted yesterday!  She had thought about us later and how she could ask questions and let us share our message with her and she said we could come back.   It was so cool! We were on a bit of a high after that.  It was definitely God putting us in the right place at the right time to help this woman.  Then we walked and contacted some more before a safety video and home.  But altogether an amazing end to an AMAZING week!

Hyvää pääsiäistä! Happy Easter!

Tuesday – I feel like the hallmark of missionary work is BUSY! Even on our p-days.  We got up and planned and exercised before we went shopping.  Not super exciting but more sad because it was Sisar Wulfensteins last day here! We say good bye tomorrow. But we shopped then came home and switched laundry before we had to leave again.  WE WENT TO THE ZOO! I got to see bears! and Buffalo! and Moose! and North American stuff! Like the zoo version of Yellowstone!  Like Bear World! Then we eventually went to email and we only had about an hour because we went to get Kebab with a recent convert.  It was so fun!  We were running late so the recent convert came and walked to the restaurant.  We thought we had a lesson right after, but he told us he wasn’t coming. We had a member even! So we shared a short message then left and contacted and tracted before watching a safety video.  Then a member wanted to say good bye to Sisar Wulfenstein so we got some Easter candy and then came home to get ready to say good-bye! :’-(

Wednesday was a bit crazy. We had an early district counsel at 10am. It was good to talk a lot about the faith to love versus the faith to reap.  It was a really good discussion.  Then we had lunch, and then did what we call the poster project.  When we pull out a poster with Jesus on it and talk to people on the street corner.  It was fun! We did it with our whole district too.  So there was 9 of us. Not very many people wanted to talk, but at one point Sisar Hansen was talking to someone so Sisar Wulfenstein and I went and talked to someone else and she gave us her phone number! And it was 2 greenies! Once the project was finished we left and came home and were really sad!  We came home and got all Sisar Wulfensteins stuff and took it to the metro then train station. We met the Turku Sisters and the AP’s (Assistant to the President) there and I may or may not have cried a little (or a lot!).  So we dropped her off and on the way home we got a call and we got to teach our friends.  We thought it was going to be one friend, but he brought 2 others.  So Sweet!!! Afterwards, we went to go tract and we contacted so many people! Everyone is outside now! It getting so much warmer!  So when it was 9 and time to go in it was still light! So Crazy!!!

Thursday was a crazy day!  We did companion study and some book work in the morning before heading over to tract after lunch.  No one was inside. And outside, no one wanted to talk to us. But we tried anyways.  At least until our lesson.  We went and knocked on his door and he came outside with us.  It was such a nice day, and so sunny!  And just windy enough for a light Jacket. Just like Idaho!!!  Literally just like Idaho, lol! So miraculous to sit in nature and testify about Christ.  There’s a special spirit and our friend even testified that he believes!  After his lesson, we went to the church for kieli and talked grammar before our lesson.  It was with the cutest couple from Iran.  They want to learn and be baptized and everything.  It is so cool!!! Their lesson went long. So we pushed our next lesson back and the member we invited too us to the BEST PIZZA PLACE! It is my favorite!  I love it! The member had to leave so we made friends with the workers. So nice! Then we walked over to our lesson and taught about Easter and how that is important to God’s plan. That Easter isn’t the Easter Bunny.  Its #EasterisChrist.  I encourage you all to go watch the video.  It is very powerful and testifies that through Easter, we can come closer to Christ and understand more of his Atonement.

Friday was pretty eventful.  After studies, we picked up our Book of Mormon boxes then went out to a less active friend.  She is precious.  So nice! We were there for roughly an hour before going to lunch.  We had a treat at Subway.  Best sandwiches, but better in the USA! Then we were supposed to have a lesson, but we were beaned! We talked to these really nice ladies from Estonia. Lots of people from there live here.  Then we studied and weekly planned. We were also supposed to have a lesson but he cancelled, so we contacted at a couple metro stations before heading out to go tract, but we had to immediately go to the church because neither of us realized the time and we were going to be late for English hour. So we hurried to the church.  We already had 2 friends there.  They were the only 2 to come but we still had fun. We taught Easter words, played Pictionary, then watched #BecauseofHim 100% recommend.  Then we walked home and had a conversation in Finnish with 2 non-native Finnish speakers.

Saturday was a hard day.  In the morning we had a Ward Coordination meeting and realized none of our friends are meeting with us. So that was a downer. Then we went to meet someone we were supposed to have a lesson with but she never showed.  We contacted those nice two ladies we waited then hopped on a bus and went tracting. People answered, but no one was interested.  We got the door shut on us a lot. Although we did meet a Japanese woman and that was cool.  Then we went home for lunch and we studied and I had a mini break down.  Not to good, but it helped to release all my pent up emotion.  Then we went to follow up with a couple of girls we taught once and we ended up giving them a mini spur of the moment lesson it was good.  Then we went to the church for interviews and I had another breakdown just with the President this time, but he really helped.  After we ate, then took Melissa and contacted a person before going back to an all-members sports night with was fun but very tiring.

Hyvää pääsiäistä! Happy Easter!  Today was unlike any other Easter.  We had church! And our friend who had a baptismal date came!!! I was in a bit of a schlump from yesterday but he came! It was his first time at church! It was awesome! After, we went home and ate lunch and did studies, but for some reason Sisar Hansen and I were exhausted to the point of ZERO energy.  So we had a rest for about 15 minutes and then we were more effective.  We also did some calls, but because Easter not many people answered.  So we went out and just talked to people as we found them.  It was good. Not many people wanted to learn, but we got to talk to quite a few people.  We finally got home for dinner before going out again.  We were going to drop by a single member, but she was out of town, so we just contacted people on our way to the church for our 1 lesson that he cancelled.  So we shared a spiritual message with her about Easter and Jesus.  It was good.  Then we contacted until we had to sprint home.
Highlight: Seeing our favorite pizza place worker driving around and having him offer us a ride home!

Hyvää toista pääsiäistä päivää – ("Good Repeat the day" is the google translate LOL!)  So fun thing, the Monday after Easter Sunday is 2nd Easter.  Which is a holiday and “free day” for most people.  And a “b-day” for us.  Which means we can’t knock on doors. Only contact people outside.  And we didn’t know that when we planned today.  I just felt like I should check the list while studying and lo and behold…b-day. So we went out to contact…All Day! The morning was really hard too.  Rejection after rejection.  Hard, but we went to stop by a member and our ward mission leader saw us and pulled over and said hello!  His wife even gave us a chocolate bar!  It lifted our spirits so much.  We then stopped by a member.  She is the cutest!  As we spoke I could feel the spirit.  Awesome!  Then back for lunch, then studies.  A few calls then back out to contact.  And we had a D.A.! (dinner appt) With a cute single sister and a less active friend.  So fun! We ate pizza and mämmi! Yummy!  Then we contacted some more before going to the church for a training.  And we also got a cloudberry cake from a member on Sunday and I may or may not have eaten my whole slice tonight…oh well…

Such is my life as a missionary!
I love you all!
Thanks for reading my letters, for your love, support and prayers!

Our Trio's down to Two

Tuesday! Up and at ‘em! Right from the get-go, we were moving! We were to the church at 8am in order to watch conference. We didn’t finish because some members came to do some family history and we helped them set up.  Then we went to the store before hurrying home to get ready before heading back to the church to email. At which point, we realized only my missionary mail account was working.  So I got to email, but my sisters didn’t. So about halfway through.  I hung up so Sisar Wulfenstein could talk to her parents because she was devastated.  Then we ran to the mall and picked up a couple of things before heading to the library to do any sort of email things left.  I even got to look at lots of pictures! (She logged onto my google photos account and perused those, looking at photos is one of her favorite things!) Then we had to run home for dinner.  I don’t even think we realized we got nothing done.  It felt like the MTC. Then we had a good lesson with our returning member about the gospel of Jesus Christ and service.  Then a good lesson with our friend A.  His was impromptu but still good.  He had questions about conference.  Then we came home and had good talks!

Wednesday! ZONE CONFERENCE! It was so good!  We got there so early. So we contacted a couple people outside! It was fun! But at the zone conference I got to see Sisar Kristensen again and I LOVE HER!!!  She is my mom here!  We learned about technology and how we get that soon! Still crazy to think about! We talked a lot about the culture we want and more mindset than logistics.  But is was awesome.  We also talked about the Easter campaign “Easter is CHRIST!”  So good…click the link to watch the video and invite all your friends to church to remember Christ and all He means.  It doesn’t have to be scary.  It’s a labor of love to invite people to strengthen their relationship with Christ.  After zone conference, we ended up cancelling a lesson because we couldn’t find a member then having another lesson at the food court in the mall.  The man was really interested and asked a lot of questions.  He was so cool!  He ended up really wanting a Book of Mormon in his native language because he is curious. It’s wonderful!

Thursday!  We had a normal morning and then had companion and language study.  PRODUCTIVITY!  Then we went out to Vuosaari.  We tried to follow up with a less active, but her building was locked and she wasn’t home to answer her doorbell. So we went to an appointment with a different returning member.  We taught, well we tried to teach, about the Plan of Salvation, but the member we brought got chatty… But it was good.  She got the returning member more comfortable around us.  Her lesson went well.  After her lesson, we went to a dinner appointment with another returning member.  Which, she was fun.  She’s from India so her food is always interesting.  But I like it when it isn’t too spicy.  After her dinner, we ran to the church for a brief lesson and church tour.  And it went so well.  He isn’t quite a new person, but he’s so close!  Then we left to tract for a bit before coming back to watch a safety video before going home!  Full, Busy DAY!!!

Friday!  In the morning, we went to follow-up with a returning member, but unfortunately she was not too interested.  Her 3 ish year old daughter came and answered the door, but didn’t tell her mom, so we stood at the door for a moment.  Finally she came but she said “heipä” (BYE) and shut the door in our face.  Not a good moment, but right after, we had an awesome contact and she told us to call her!  It was awesome!  Then we came back home to eat lunch, study and weekly plan! So fun!  We had a pretty good streak going then right at the end we all crashed.  It was all good though because we had dinner.  Then we went and tracted a little bit before English hour.  And we were so worried no one would come!  But we had one friend come.  ONE!  It was awesome.  We had fun.  It was a small group, but a fun group.  Then a quick trip home.  It wasn’t a busy day but it was rewarding.

Saturday!  We were studying this morning before we left and President Aura called.  I was so confused.  He said “we have a new assignment for one of you… Sisar Wulfenstein you are assigned to go to Turku! All 3 of us were shocked!  Early transfer because a sister is going home a couple weeks early for school.  So Crazy!!!  After that none of us could focus.  She leaves on Wednesday.  It’s so heartbreaking. :’( Then we had to go o the ward Coordination and Sisar Wulfenstein told the Elders and the ward mission leader that she was leaving.  So SAD!  Then we called a million people to get someone to a lesson, but no one could come.  (I think she missed a line or something!)  So we met him at the library and he was so cool.  He really wants to learn!  He was so cool and knows perfect English.  Then we were going to have a few more lessons but no one came.  It was so annoying! (ahh the joys of missionary work) I was feeling a little sick, so we came home and I napped through Kieli then woke up for dinner.  After we were suppose to have a lesson but HE DIDN’T COME EITHER! UGH!  So we went to follow up with our Italian friend before sports night!  It was so fun! It’s sad it is so short, but it was fun before we came home.

Sunday was church.  Sisar Wulfenstein’s last Sunday here.  We had a song and testimony part.  It went well.  We sang “I need Thee every hour” and testified of Christ.  It went well and we had a friend come!  It was awesome. Everyone was so sad to say good-bye to Sisar Wulfenstein.  We finally got home, later than expected, but on the Brightside we had a dinner appointment with the sweetest old lady!  She is lovely!  Afterwards we went a knocking before finishing studies and dinner.  Then we contacted a bit before a lesson with our cute returning member!  She just got her patriarchal blessing and is now going to try to get to the temple.  So we had a really long lesson with her.  It lasted from 6:15 to 8:30.  It was good though so we just contacted home.

Monday was busy!  We had studies in the morning before we ran to a lesson with our friend from Nepal.  He got so excited for his baptism.  It was so cute! Then we had to run right after to go to a dinner appointment with a returning member and she fed us so much!  I almost exploded!  We tried to help her clean, but she has a cat and Sisar Wulfenstein and I are both allergic and were dying!  After helping her we had to run and give our friend a Book of Mormon in French! Then we pit stopped at home before going to another returning members house.  She was so sweet and we got to talk about Easter with her before we came home.

That's it for this week.  Love you all so very much.  Thank you for the love support and prayers!!!

Suomenlinna and General Conference

Tuesday was so fun! After getting to talk to mom and dad and talk to all of you! (thank you to all who emailed me.  I love you all so much!) We came home to get ready before going shopping. Sisar Hansen had to exchange her shoes and Sisar Wulfenstein received her pants she needed hemmed.  Then groceries! Always an adventure to grocery shop! When we got home, we hurried to change laundry and eat before heading out again.  We went to Suomenlinna (translation Finnish Castle) Its an island about 15 minutes from Helsinki where this huge fortress is.  It was way cool.  We had so much fun, but only had limited time. We even unfortunately missed the 1st ferry by 30 seconds.  So we had to wait 40 minutes for the next one.  We bought reindeer horn things and gelato though.  Then we came back and went to Kamppi (a shopping center) for some fudge then back home for a quick dinner then church for a brief tour before heading to a returning members house.  She’s really nice.  She has schizophrenia so its hard to come to church, but her testimony is still so strong.  We had a good visit.  Then we rushed home.  It was a REALLY GOOD DAY!

Wednesday - We had district council in the morning, so we headed over to the church and Sisar Wulfenstein got to play piano and de-stress while Sisar Hansen and I called a few people before district council.  It was so weird though because our Marjaniemi Elders weren’t there, but in Espoo for another meeting.  So we had ours, then had a lesson with our actor friend. *Side note: on our way to our actor’s lesson we were walking down the stairs and I fell…TWICE! Down concrete stairs to the metro, in PUBLIC! It was so embarrassing! Anyway, he is so cool and we taught a really good lesson about Jesus Christ, God and the Plan they have for our lives.  After his lesson we came home for some language study before dinner.  Then we had another lesson with our friend from China.  He’s so nice and really vibed with our lesson but we were all bead so it was little hard.  We just home he prays.  Prayer is so beneficial.  We headed home to call some potential before BED!!!

Thursdays never work out.  They just wipe you out because nothing works.  It does because the Lord’s time, but not our plans.  We went out to a further out area Kulasaari, just to contact.  I talked to one lady on the metro BY MYSELF! My 2 sisters sat down but there wasn’t room for me so I stood and talked to this lady and got her #! I was so proud!! Then we went to tract a little before going to serve a member.  We were only there about 30 minutes.  But it was so effective!  It was good. Then we went to the church for dinner and waiting for A to show up.  But he didn’t because he was Disc Golfing.  So we shared a spiritual message with our member and somehow their 2(ish) year old daughter got a hold of some nails and tried to eat them but I saw her before she swallowed.  So even though her parents got them out I helped. Then we went tracting and met an Italian man, after we left his house we saw these people outside and it was because their inside cat was outside under a car.  It bolted and I chased after it and caught it! It was awesome…despite being allergic…Afterwards we went and watched a safety video (highly recommend) before going home for the evening.  Even though we had a couple lessons fall through it was a good day.

Friday was actually a day of finding.  In the morning we went down to area 5 and found a couple of people before going back home for lunch, studies, and weekly planning which is always long, but good.  Then we had a delicious dinner before heading up to area 2. We were going to teach a family but they weren’t there, we contacted instead.  We met these sisters who were pretty interested.  Gave them a book and got their number and address.  It was awesome. Then we had another good(ish) contact.  He told us he was lost and we testified so strongly and boldly and told him we were his answer to every prayer.  He didn’t accept, but we have hope.  We called after him to ask his name and when we all said “Sisar” he called himself “Brother XXX” it was sweet.  We hurried to the church for English hour and taught and played the game Telegraphics where you have a word then pass it on, then draw a picture, then write a word.  It cracked me up I loved it.  Then we came home.  10/10 day!

Saturday!  We had our ward coordination meeting this morning without the elders which was fun! New and weird but fun.  Then we went to a lesson with a less active who fed us Mämmi it’s a traditional Finnish Easter dessert (pudding) Not sure what it is but I liked it.  Then we came home for lunch, studies, and then calls.  It was a lazy but productive afternoon.  Then we ate dinner and prepared a bit for General Conference.  It was so exciting! We went to the church and Sisar Wulfenstein played piano a bit before conference.  It was the best!  One of our friends (who always wears sweats) wore slacks! And Came!!! Oh and I was such a good session!  A really big focus on being examples and being converted.  A good beginning to an AWESOME conference!  I am pumped! We came home and oh boy! I am excited for tomorrow!

Sunday! Sunday! What a day! We thought we had a lesson at 10ish so we made our way over there, but they weren’t there so we tracted a little before heading home for kieli then lunch.  We then packed dinner before heading back to our church to see if any of our friends would have shown up to the Priesthood session and on our way there we decide to drop by a friends...who had no pants on!  It was traumatizing! I kept eye contact the whole time though. AWKWARD! No one came, so we headed to another area to tract.  We talked about family contacts and ended up contacting a mom and daughter, giving them a book and getting their number!  The power of goals and practicing. Then we made our way back to the church for the Saturday afternoon session of General Conference. So Good! We then watched the world report before eating then watching Music and the Spoken Word and the Sunday Morning Session. It was kind of weird knowing that my family is doing the same thing at home at 10am as I was in Finland at 7pm.  Kinda Weird! Made me a little homesick to because they talked a lot about home.  But I know my family loves me and our life lasts longer than this world! I hope you all watched and enjoyed conference.  I know I did.

Monday!  We got up and ready! All exercised out!  I studied in the Book of Mormon in Alma.  When Alma talks to his sons.  Lots of good life advice. Then we did companion and language studies.  Before lunch today.  And all morning was gloomy! It got cold and snowy a bit again.  Not enough to stick, just to annoy. But we had lunch and called some people before heading out. We had 3 full hours of proselyting time.  It was good! We got a few peoples numbers and gave out a few books! It was good.  As we neared the end we got on a bus to go back but at the next stop I felt we needed to get off. So we did and ended up contacting a guy on his Parvakei or balcony and got his #! It was perfect! Then we called someone while waiting for the bus. He wasn’t interested but his friend was! Miracles! Then dinner and we wanted to have a lesson, but he never answered.  So we went and tracted before coming back for a lesson at 8.  This lesson was with these two teenaged sisters.  So cool!  Very nice and really interested!  We set up another lesson, so now we have 2 more people we are teaching!  Then we came home and got ready for bed.

Life is good!  I love you all!

hyvää päivää - Hello or Good Day (Hi-vah Pie-e-vah)

Hey family and friends! What a week!  So much has happened and next week is General Conference!  Crazy how fast it goes!  This week has been crazy to me.

On Tuesday the day we last spoke, I BOUGHT PANTS!  I now am the proud owner of two pairs of pants! Blue and Grey!  They are really nice I wore them to our lessons, we had 2. The first was with our young Chinese friend. He is pretty Cool.  We taught about Jesus Christ and the Book of Mormon and S said he would read and pray and try to repent every day.  He is so ready.  Then our next lesson work out just how it needed to. We had just the right member.  We found out the A has some problems he needs to work through before much more can happen, but he also really desires to follow God.  So it was really good still.

On Wednesday, we woke up and planned, studied, ate, then went out to a bit farther out area.  We got on the bus and met this lady who wasn’t doing good so we asked to pray for her and she said yes. So we prayed and she cried a little. She was so cute, but it was so sad.  She told us she had cancer, then walked away.  So we went our way too and knocked some doors, buy no one answered.  But we tried to talk to this man who was mopping in the building but he was a little harsh, but then we told him who we represent and then he was kinder.  He eventually told us where he was from.  Rwanda. We eventually came home and studied and did calls.  We were going to visit our friend from Iraq but we couldn’t find an Arabic speaking member. So we didn’t go.  We called people instead.  Then had dinner before heading over to our friends house. We had a crazy cool lesson though.  We did really good.  Before we contacted around for a little while. It was good.  We even watched a safety video.  It was crazy scary about electrical safety.  Good!

Thursday, quite a day.  It has felt so long.  So much has happened.  We had a long tracting session. This morning.  It was SO LONG! It feels like 1000 years ago.  We had no success and no one was home.  It sucked.  But it was sunny and we got to talk to this guy who is almost deaf and he yelled at us.  It was the loudest conversation ever here in Finland.  Most remarkable part of the morning.   Then we had studies and we got to go teach the family from Iraq.  They understood a lot even though we didn’t bring someone.  It was so good.  Then dinner and our Chinese friend cancelled but our returning member called and we went and visited her and we didn’t plan anything but it went so good.   The spirit was there just testifying so strong.  She even opened up about some spiritual experiences. We were on a spiritual high.  Then we went and watch a safety video. hyvää päivää.

Friday is always FUN!  Especially once we get moving!  We had a lesson this morning.  It was with this French man who said it was hard to change his mind but we tried to teach anyway.  It didn’t go very well.  He wasn’t very nice, no bash-y but not nice. Then we left to go home for lunch, but the member offered to buy us pizza so we obviously said yes! ★★★★★! It was so yummy!  I loved it!  The we came home and finished studies before doing weekly planning.  And we are getting so much better!  We were like 5 minutes to being done ut we had to eat because we had a lesson right at 6 o’clock.  It was with our Indian friend and his parents.  It went well but we had to leave pretty quick from that too because we had English Hour.  Which had 5 missionaries attend and 3 friends…all who are basically fluent in English.  But it was fun anyways. Then we walked a friend home before coming home ourselves.

Saturday was a much hurry day. We had our ward coordination meeting at 10 so we were out the door so fast after the morning. And we had a good meeting.  Then Sisar Wulfenstein played piano to de-stress before we were out for lunch then studies.  We then headed to the church for a lesson with a girl we met a couple days ago, but she never showed up so we went and were going to tract, but we found a cool shack with Studio Ghibli pictures.  It was so cool, so we took pictures and it was legit.  Then we came home for “dinner” but we were fasting so we just did stuff for an hour before we had to leave for our friend from Nigeria.  He has a baptismal date so we made him a calendar to prepare him, but the lesson went on so many tangents and every time I tried to bring it back, he attacked me.

Abbie found someone to send me pics!  Thank you Melissa!

Sunday was BUSY! We slept in because our alarm didn’t go off at the right time #daylight savings! (Finland’s daylight savings happens later than ours) so we had to rush to get ready since we were picking up our friend to go to church. We got to his apartment and called and rang and knocked but no answer but then he finally texts us and says he’s not home.  I was annoyed. So we went to church and after church we had a ward dinner thing.  It was so fun! I got to talk to some ward members and have fun.  Then right after we had a lesson with a returning member.  He’s pretty cool.  He’s from Ethiopia.  After our lesson we had studies before we went to a birthday party for our recent convert…and his family is loaded!  But it was fun! He’s 30 now. We were there for a long time before we left for a quick pit stop home before heading out to tract and then teach our friends from Iraq.  This time we had our translator but the Dad was at the gym.  So many obstacles.  But it was still ok.  We had to run home, but the lesson was good!

Monday was also crazy.  We left in the morning and talked to this lady from Rovaniemi!  We got her address to give to the elders there.  Then we came home to call our friend to do a short phone lesson but he didn’t answer. Then we ate and panned before heading to a members house for a short visit that didn’t end up being short because she fed us. But it was good.  It was so fun she is so cute with a sweet conversion story from a long time ago  Her testimony is still so strong.  We came home to study the language before we had dinner of mostly raw potatoes and I put honey on them. Not too bad.  Then we had a lesson with our young Chinese friend and he’s actually almost 40 and married with a daughter. So that was a surprise! But his lesson went so well. I really felt the spirit and he really liked the scripture 3 Nephi 18:15 about prayer.  It was funny, he made us chicken because we pray for him.  Such a sweetheart.  We then contacted to the church to see if someone wanted a tour (no) so we watched a safety video before going home.  It was a long but good day.

I love you all and appreciate the love and support and especially the prayers.
Thank you!
